I saw the strangest thing outside my window ...

I saw the strangest thing when I looked out my front window. I’ll try and explain it in the most simplistic terms: half human, half fox- the body of a fox, the pupils and aura of a human. It walked up my drive away. The wind blew and ruffled its coat. It looked so determined. One paw in front of another as it walked towards my house. I was so scared. What was it? What was it doing here? I closed the curtains but peeked out the sides. It growled. I yelped. I saw it run round the back of my house. Was the back door shut? Oh my god. Run, run, I told myself. It was already there. It was already there in my house. It pounced on me. What was happening? I’m so scared…

When I woke up I couldn’t comprehend anything. I was lying on the ground of my house in complete darkness. I was hurt. My arms were aching and there was a pain in my legs that stopped them from moving. I screamed, “Help me!” I heard a growl. “Go away! Go away!”
It whispered to me, no one’s gonna save you.
“Why me? Why me! What did I do?” You left me.
Oh my god. Please… don’t tell me it’s… “David?”
Yes.

“I didn’t mean to! You don’t know why it happened!” It hurt. You took away my heart. He bared his teeth and growled so loudly I thought I would die right then and there. His human eyes scared me. I felt tears well up in the corners of my eyes and start to pour out. This wasn’t fair. You lied to me, he laughed. How could a fox laugh? You told me you loved me. You said we’d be together forever. I swallowed deep. I couldn’t think properly. It wasn’t like that… why was he so angry at me? It’s time for revenge. When he said that, I screamed. I screamed and screamed and screamed.
“Why are you a fox?” He rolled his eyes and said: you’ll find out when you die.

His claws were already extended, ready to attack. I shielded my face with my arms and tried desperately to move my legs but they were broken. I stopped screaming and started sobbing instead. He came closer. His claws were there, right next to my neck, but they weren’t moving. Help me…

“David? David!?”
I don’t want to do this…
Something wasn’t right. I removed my arms from my face and touched David. He was shaking. Help… help me…
His eyes started flashing. He groaned and then whimpered… his paw came closer to my throat. I didn’t know what to do. How was I meant to save him? I wanted to so bad. I leaned over and kissed him. “I love you.”
